My name is Trip Ulvila and I always have a camera with me. Whether I’m walking around with my Hasselblad, or just sneaking in photos with my iPhone, I always manage to have a means of capturing what I see.
I shoot weddings, skateboarding, events, and document my daily life, just so one day when I look back at all of the photos, I’ll remember things just as they were.My background is in illustration and design, but photography has been a hobby since college. Once I got more serious with design, this forced me to get more serious about photography since I was increasingly needing specialized photos and I wanted to be behind the camera to carry out my vision.
I went to school at Salisbury University, where I earned a BFA in Graphic Design. While attending the university, I was able to develop a list of clients and sustain plenty of freelance work to build my skills. Some of my clients during this time include Pure Boardshop, East of Maui, GiftMonster, Insurance Solutions, Salisbury University, and the City of Salisbury. After staying busy throughout college and earning my degree, I moved to Orlando Florida to pursue an internship with the Walt Disney Company as a photographer. Here I learned a lot of valuable skills and really became accustomed to the technical aspects of photography. I was able to pick up additional skill in candid shooting, as well as studio photography.
I just left my job as the marketing director for Euro Gourmet, just outside of Washington, DC to pursue a full time freelance photography / design career. While at Euro Gourmet I worked on all of the print and web work for the company, as well as the design work for their restaurant equipment distribution, coffee division, and new wood fired oven company. I helped design the 2 newest models for Marra Forni, and have worked to further the brand identity of the company.
Feel free to leave me a comment on my photos, give me some critique, or just share your thoughts.
Thanks,
Trip
